Google is restoring missing out on evaluations in Google Organization Profiles after fixing a bug that triggered them to get erased.
Google is fixing a bug that triggered evaluations to go missing from Google Organization Profiles. Google confirms evaluations are getting restored. Google’s Search Intermediary, Danny Sullivan, revealed on Buy Twitter Verified in reply to Mike Blumenthal, who states he reported the bug a week earlier.
Our apologies here. The group understands this bug and has actually been actively resolving it. Lots of reviews have been brought back, and that work will continue.

Blumenthal isn’t overemphasizing the severity of the bug. Evaluations are a dining establishment’s bread and butter, and removing them can substantially impact earnings.
There are numerous threads in the Google Business Profile help forums started by business owners who lost most or all of their evaluations.
In each thread, the business owners share something in common. After applying Google’s suggested edits to their organization profile, they all lost reviews.
Blumenthal writes in an article that he found Google was altering the consumer identification (CID) number when services applied recommended edits:
“With some digging, I found that in each case Google had altered the CID, the identifier Google uses to tie all relevant info to a business, including evaluations. Usually the CID just changes when 2 listings merge or Google has hard-suspended a listing for guidelines violations and then reinstated it.”
Consumer evaluations are related to a specific CID number, which means changing the CID eliminates the reviews.
That ought to never occur, specifically not when applying Google’s recommended edits.
A fix is on the method, and hopefully, it’s as easy as going back the impacted Google Company Profiles to their original CID numbers.
We’ll upgrade this post if Google shares extra information.
